Hi!

I am Hikaru. I am an internship student at Dar es Salaam.

On June 16th, the day of African Child, Art in Tanzania participated in Siku Ya Mtoto 2017 as volunteers! We celebrated this day to encourage the improvement of children’s education and environment, and to re-recognise the challenges that still need to be accomplished.

There were many fun outdoor and indoor games and entertainment options for children. In addition to the scheduled activities, special side events were also organised, including face painting, free eye checkups and diagnoses for children, and exhibitions by national and international firms.

Many of the school students came on a school field trip! It was fun to interact with the energetic kids. The event is set for all kids, boys and girls, with disabilities, who love sports, prefer dancing or the arts, have a sense of language, and so on. All of the recreations let kids exercise, enjoy and discover their talents.

Although joining kids’ events is not my first time, participating on the host side is! Before, while, and after the event, kids are enjoying themselves, and the staff are running around to ensure the prominent guests are having a good time. From this volunteer experience, I gained insight into the necessary skills, technology, and atmosphere required to organise events and bring them to success.

In my opinion, this volunteer activity was a great opportunity, especially for the education, human rights, marketing, and management intern/ volunteer program.

Art in Tanzania offers numerous opportunities for people interested in various sectors to learn and grow.
