ART in Tanzania’s Football Coaching & Sports Development Volunteering and Internship Program gives students, coaches, athletes, physiotherapists, and sports enthusiasts the opportunity to support youth development while gaining valuable international experience.

Football is Tanzania’s most popular sport, and thousands of talented young players dream of pursuing professional careers. Working alongside our local partner, Briessfull Stars Organisation, founded by former Tanzanian professional football players, you will help young athletes develop their technical skills, confidence, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.

Whether you have coaching experience or simply a passion for sport, your contribution can help inspire the next generation both on and off the pitch.

Your placement is tailored to your skills, experience, and interests. Depending on your background, you may support one or more of the following activities.

Football Coaching & Player Development

Work directly with youth football teams to improve both technical ability and personal development.

Activities may include:

  • Assisting football coaching sessions
  • Teaching technical skills and ball control
  • Developing tactics and team formations
  • Strength and conditioning exercises
  • Goalkeeper training
  • Motivating and mentoring young athletes

You will work with players of different ages and skill levels, from village teams to talented youth academy players.

Sports  Coaching & Physical Education

Help promote active lifestyles by supporting sports activities in local schools and communities.

Possible activities include:

  • Organizing football tournaments
  • Assisting athletics competitions
  • Coaching basketball
  • Supporting volleyball and tennis activities
  • Planning sports days
  • Leading warm-ups and fitness sessions

These activities help children develop confidence, discipline, leadership, and healthy habits.

Health, Nutrition & Wellbeing Education

Alongside sports coaching, volunteers help educate young athletes about:

  • Sports nutrition
  • Hydration
  • Personal hygiene
  • Injury prevention
  • Physical fitness
  • Mental wellbeing
  • Healthy lifestyles

Depending on your background, you may also collaborate with our Physiotherapy, Medical, and Community Psychology teams to support athlete health and rehabilitation.
