Volunteering & Intern with ART Prices and Stipends

Our volunteering and internship programmes in Tanzania are designed to be affordable, transparent, and long-term impact oriented. We actively encourage longer stays and reward commitment with significantly reduced weekly rates.

All placements include full-board accommodation (breakfast and dinner), with opportunities to live and work closely with the local community in Madale Village, Dar es Salaam.

We believe in clear, upfront pricing so participants can plan their stay confidently without hidden costs. Moreover, we actively encourage longer placements and reward commitment with a reduced weekly rate. The longer you stay, the less you pay per week:

Financial Support — Stipend

Participants staying for a minimum of four weeks are eligible for a monthly stipend of €45.

While modest, this reflects our commitment to recognising the contribution interns and volunteers make to community development work. The stipend is equivalent to approximately twice the national minimum wage in Tanzania.

Additional Costs (Personal Expenses)

Some costs are not included in the programme fee:

  • Airport transfer (arrival & departure): €60/ way
  • Visa: USD 50 (single entry, up to 3 months) or USD 250 (multiple-entry, up to 12 months)
  • International flights: arranged independently
  • Local transport: minimal and inexpensive within Dar es Salaam

  • Lunch is not included, as participants are typically engaged in project work during the day. Typical meal cost: €1–€3

  • Mobile data is not included in the costs and accounts for €20/ month depending on data usage
