Gain practical leadership and nonprofit management experience while supporting community development in Tanzania. The NGO Management & Event Management Volunteering and Internship Program offers students and professionals the opportunity to work at the heart of an international NGO, contributing to projects that create lasting social impact.

Working alongside an international team of volunteers, interns, and local staff, you will help coordinate daily operations, support community initiatives, organize events, and strengthen partnerships with universities and local organizations. 

Your responsibilities will vary depending on your interests, experience, and the NGO’s current priorities. You may work across several of the following areas:

Cross-Project Coordination

Work across multiple community programs and help ensure projects run smoothly. Possible activities include:

  • Supporting education, health, environmental, and community development projects
  • Assisting new volunteers and interns during their placement and addressing students’ weekly plans 
  • Coordinating communication between departments
  • Identifying opportunities for collaboration
  • Helping teams solve operational challenges
  • Monitoring project progress and reporting
Event Management

Plan and organize events that strengthen relationships with local communities, international universities, and partner organizations.

Projects may include:

  • University information sessions
  • Volunteer recruitment events
  • Community workshops
  • Public health campaigns
  • Human rights awareness events
  • Environmental campaigns
  • Partner meetings
  • Educational outreach activities

You will also help prepare event materials, presentations, promotional content, and schedules.

Community Partnerships

Work directly with local partners to strengthen community engagement.

You may collaborate with:

  • Schools
  • Women’s groups
  • Local government representatives
  • Healthcare providers
  • Environmental organizations
  • Community leaders

Building strong partnerships is essential for creating sustainable, community-led development.

Local Enterprise Development

Support local entrepreneurs and women’s groups by helping strengthen small businesses and income-generating activities.

Possible responsibilities include:

  • Organizing entrepreneurship workshops
  • Providing basic business advice
  • Supporting marketing and branding
  • Teaching simple accounting and budgeting
  • Visiting small businesses and rural communities
  • Encouraging sustainable business development

This work combines social impact with practical business consulting.

AI for Schools & Local Organizations

Support Tanzanian schools, community organizations, and local enterprises in discovering how AI can improve learning and everyday work.

Projects may include:

  • Delivering introductory AI workshops for teachers and students
  • Training local businesses to use AI for marketing, communication, and administration
  • Helping entrepreneurs improve efficiency through AI-powered tools
  • Demonstrating responsible and ethical AI use
  • Encouraging digital literacy and innovation within local communities
