Mikumi Udzungwa Rainforest safari

Mikumi Udzungwa rain forest safari is part of the Art in Tanzania sustainable travel programs. The task is to raise funds for the NGO community work as we operate as a self-sustainable entity.

This leisurely three-day tour combines abundant African wildlife with rainforest trekking. For USD 30 per person, you can add a Masai village visit to the program.

Safari Itinerary

The Udzungwa rainforest trek is an excellent addition to the Mikumi safari. This safari is a popular option with our volunteers.

Day 1: Dar es Salaam / Mikumi (-/L/D)
After breakfast, we depart at about 8 AM to make the 5-hour journey to Mikumi National Park. Depending on traffic, the car usually arrives in time for a half-day game drive. We can stop at the Masai village on the way.

Accommodation and dinner take place at Mikumi town hostels and lodges. Also, inside the park at the Tanzania National Parks hostel, depending on the space at that time.
Upgrading to the Luxury Lodge inside the Mikumi National Park is an additional $300 per person.

Day 2: Mikumi – Udzungwa (B/L/D)
After breakfast, the car departs for the game ride. The route within the park varies during the dry and wet seasons. A boxed lunch is included.
In the afternoon, we drive to Udzungwa National Park for dinner and one 1-night accommodation at a local hostel outside the park.

Day 3: Udzungwa – Mikumi / Dar es Salaam (B/L/-)
After breakfast, we depart for a day of trekking inside the Udzungwa Rain Forest, stopping at waterfalls and watering holes.
We will depart Udzungwa and arrive in Dar in time for dinner.

Safari highlights:
Antelopes, cheetahs, crocodiles, elephants, gazelles, giraffes, hippopotamuses, leopards, lions,
Zebras and more than 400 bird species, not forgetting the unbelievable fauna of the rainforest.
