Disaster Management Volunteering and Internship

Art in Tanzania improves the Tanzanian people’s preparedness and resilience against natural and artificial environmental disasters. In Tanzania, disaster management is not widely known, and the communities are ill-equipped in the case of a disaster.

Threats to Tanzanian people and property include flooding, earthquakes, landslides, and diseases like malaria and cholera. Climate change also causes famine and global warming, further affecting industrial incidents from poor health and safety working conditions.

This program aims to educate Tanzanian people and raise awareness about their significant threats. We work with schools and corporations to provide education on all stages, from early prevention, mitigation, and preparation to the final stages of evacuation and response. Interns involve private and public institutions and help them to develop emergency plans. You evaluate risks and current systems and create tailored and reliable evacuation plans that could save lives. First Aid and health and safety are not widely known, so as part of our disaster management training, Art in Tanzania also looks to educate the community on these topics.

Development of Emergency Plans

Work with schools and organisations, evaluate current safety precautions, and assess most likely disaster threats according to the area. Develop emergency plans and recommend increased health and safety measures and disaster prevention.

All these tasks are relatively new in Tanzanian societies, and you can improve people’s knowledge of everyday and future risks and their solutions.

Awareness

Visit schools, conduct advocative presentations and training classes, educate local people on natural and artificial disasters that threaten them, advocate health and safety, and explain and alert people to act in emergencies.

To reach the maximum number of people in society, school class advocacy programs are an excellent tool for relaying information to community members.

Education and First AID/health and safety

Bring first aid knowledge with you or develop it while in Tanzania, teach this to community members, such as teachers and corporate staff, and provide invaluable knowledge that could save lives.

Giving first aid skills is not common in Tanzanian societies. You can also study and teach how to react in non-familiar situations, such as what to do if a snake or other poisonous animal bites you, which is an obvious risk in Africa.
